When The Visit Is Over

DSC_0222

My daughter and her husband(!) arrived back in England this afternoon, and here I am in the bewildered aftermath. It's strange to know that they're so far away, and yet were so recently here. I'm pouring milk from a carton they bought, laundering the towels they used, finding little traces of them still. It feels as though they might be coming up the stairs any minute, but they are on another continent across the ocean. What a confusing and amazing world.

There's an exhausting feast or famine aspect to all of this, and I have to admit I don't like it, but I'm staying busy and doing my best. The house feels very quiet now, and it's time to get back to normal.

Alas, I don't have a clue what normal is.
